Cause and Effect

1 Corinthians 15:33 "Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners."

Certian movies and music effects us. We may say, it does not effect me, I still follow God. We may say, I do not listen to the bad music. There is no good in ungodly music! According to scripture (what God says), it effects us, regardless of what we may think/believe.

Ephesians 4:27 "Neither give place to the devil." Listening to such music is giving place to the devil. Rock, et al. Watching certian movies a christian should not be watching is giving place to the devil. And there are also movies we should not be watching, but may not be restricted or show nudity or have cussing. They may present a bad view of dating, may be passionate and stir up feelings inside of us, or may be subtil in advocating certian things, et al. In otherwords, they will change the way we think (not thinking as we should of certain things, and not viewing things as they are). Music will do and does the same thing, has the same effect.

What comes out our mouth reveals who or what is in our heart.
"for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Matthew 12:34b)

See these scripture references:

Luke 6:43 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Luke 6:44 For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.
Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
Luke 6:46 And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
Luke 6:47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Luke 6:49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

(Note of the last part of the verses:) Wow, we need to do what he says, and not just hear it; listen to it and obey it. We can say we love Jesus and are saved, but are we living it? As one had said, "We can't be calling ourselves chrsitian and going out watching R-rated movies, and being like the world."

(The other reference):

Matthew 12:33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Matthew 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

We speak from the abundance of our heart. What comes out our mouth reveals who and what is in it. If cursing is coming out, then cursing is in it. As the saying is, "Garbage in, garbage out." If we put unholy things in our heart, then they will come out. If we listen to ungodly/secular music or watch bad movies, we are putting it (letting it in) our heart. It will come out.

Jesus himself said: "[T]hose things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: 20 These are the things which defile a man:" (Matthew 15:18-20a) These evil things come from the heart; they defile a man. We cause them to get there (but not the one cause).

David says in the Psalm.
Psalm 101:3 "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me."

We need to guard our eyes, and our ears. We should not allow any wicked or evil thing before our eyes, nor should we allow our ears to hear secular music. Jesus Christ can set us free; he can change our heart and mind. He can and will help us if we have become used to watching bad things and listening to secualr music. Christ saved us, made us a new creature (old things passed away), and we need to live the life he hath given us. We do not listen to the music we use to, we do not watch the movies and things we use to. He tells us we need to be separate.

May we realize, what we listen to effects us, what we watch effects us, good or bad. There is no such thing as amoral music; it is either for Jesus or against Jesus. Secular music is not for Jesus, else it would not be secular/worldly/New Age. Anything that is not for Jesus is for Satan. If you are not serving Jesus, you are the servant of sin (John 8:34; Romans 6:16), the servant of Satan (Read Romans 6). We cannot serve two masters (Mt. 6:24; Lk. 16:13). May we turn back to holiness (Leviticus 20:7; 1 Peter 1:15,16), back to the Lord, back to guarding our eyes, and not conforming to this world (Romans 12:2). Watching these certain movies and listening to secular music does not help us renew our mind. May the Lord renew our minds and our lives! "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (Romans 12:2)

1 Peter 1:13-16:

1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
1 Peter 1:16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Let us not fashion ourselves to the world, and let us be holy in all manner of conversation, not watching ungood movies and secular music. May we think on pure and honest things.

"8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. 9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you." (Philippians 4:8,9)

May the Lord be with us.

Just ask and God will be there, he can help; he wants to help. Jesus loves you.

Be blessed in Jesus name.
