2 Timothy 4:1-5

"1   I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

2   Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

3   For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4   And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5   But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry."

"I charge thee...Preach the word...." (v1, 2)

1 Timothy 4:1-3, 7-10

"1   Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

2   Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

3   Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth....

7   But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

8   For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

9   This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.

10   For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe."

We are living in the last days (the latter times).  Men are giving heed to seducing spirit, many have even departed from the faith.  We can just look at many of these message boards and see, there be false teachers and those that speak lies, and those that have turned from the truth to fables.

Galatians 1:6-10

"6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:

7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

Read 1 Timothy 6:3-5

They will preach unto you a gospel which we did not preach unto you.  They will speak lies and heseries (see 1 Tim. 4:2).

Titus 1:10-14

"10 For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

11 Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre's sake.

12 One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

13 This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth."

They are deceivers.  We can see that in this world, and read it on these message boards.

2 Peter 2:1-3

"1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2  And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3  And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not."

False prophets are among the people.

What is the purpose of this?  We are living in the latter days, Christ's nearing return is coming close.  We need to go out, as Jesus said in the Gospel, and preach the Gospel.  We need to reach the lost while we have time, while we are still here. "I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work" (John 9:4).  The night cometh when we will not be able to witness to those that are lost.
